Grilled Steak & Mushroom Pizza
1 12" Boboli® Original Pizza Crust
2 tsp. chili powder
2 tsp. grill seasoning
2 tbsp. canola or vegetable oil
1/2 lb. flank steak
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. mushrooms, sliced
1/2 c. barbecue sauce
2 c. cheddar or Colby Jack cheese, shredded
1/4 c. fresh chives, chopped
Preheat oven to 450° F.
Bake time: 10 – 12 minutes
Rub the chili powder and grill seasoning over both sides of the steak. In a medium skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat and sear the steak for 7 – 8 minutes per side. Remove the meat to a cutting board to rest. While the meat rests, add the butter to the same skillet, sauté the mushrooms until golden brown, and remove from heat. Spread the barbecue sauce onto the crust, leaving a 1" border around the edge. Slice the flank steak against the grain into 1/2" thick slices. (Meat will be slightly pink in the center and will continue cooking in the oven.) Layer the steak, cheese and mushrooms over the barbecue sauce, and bake for 10 – 12 minutes until cheese is bubbly and crust is golden brown. Garnish with fresh chives.
For 8" pizza crust, use 2/3 ingredients.
Preheat grill for 10 – 15 minutes on medium-high heat. Please follow any safety instructions provided by your grill manufacturer prior to grilling. If you have a gas grill, turn off one of the burners. If you use charcoal, push charcoal to one side. Brush a dash of olive oil (or melted butter) on each side of your Boboli® pizza crust. Place the crust on the side of the grill with the burner turned off or without the charcoal. Grill the crust 2 – 4 minutes per side. Remove from grill. Add toppings, including any pre-cooked meats and vegetables and return to grill for 8 – 10 minutes. Grill until the cheese is melted (if applicable) and the crust is golden. Remove from heat, let cool for 2 minutes, and enjoy!
